Pir Hamid Shah / Wahanee Mosque

Pir Hamid Shah Mosque also known as Wahanee mosque, is located in Pir Hamid Shah Graveyard, it is in a ruined condition and once it was very elegant structure beautifully built. It originally had three-domes and now only central dome is surviving. Three-domed mosques were mostly constructed in Kalhora period. The facade of the mosque is on the eastern side, the original dimensions of the mosque were 16.8 x 6.8 m and the total covered area was 115.66 sq.m. The mosque was constructed with burnt bricks (22.8 x 22.8 x 3.8 cm), mud was used as mortar and cheroli was used in 1st layer of the plaster, lime and jute in 2nd layer and 3rd finishing layer with lime cream and soap stone. The facade of the mosque was originally decorated with three multifoil arch openings within recessed multifoil arches, presently only two openings are surviving in a ruined condition. Two domes have collapsed whereas the central dome which is surviving, rests on an octagonal drum and the perimeter of the drum is decorated with merlons and there are two ventilators and four protruding squinches on the external side of the drum. In the interior of the mosque, the central drum is decorated with four squinches alternating with recessed Tudor arch panels and muqarnas, with two panels having ventilators. There are some traces of secco painting visible in the interior of the mosque.
