Dau-ja-Qubba Graveyard

The graveyard of Dau-Ja-Quba is located about 32km north-west of Ghaibi dero village. It can be accessed from Ghaibi Dero to Sono Khan Chandio village and off via earthen track to the graveyard. The graveyard is known as Dau-ja-Quba, it is named after Dau who was the chief of the Hussaini tribe and was killed in 1614 in the battle of Mahu near Ghaibi Dero. The graveyard consists of eight tombs beautifully decorated with fresco and some old and recent graves in the surroundings. The graveyard belongs to Kalhora period. The tomb I belongs to Dau Khan Chandio, it is square in shape and is constructed with burnt bricks with mud mortar and traditional lime plaster. The facade of the tomb is on the eastern side, it has a high recessed rectangular frame in the center with a large and small Tudor arch for the entrance. On both sides of the central panel there are four recessed rectangular panels with two horizontal panels above them. The parapet of the facade is decorated with merlons and turrets. In the interior of the tomb, there are deep squinches going down to the floor level alternating with large Tudor arches in the center, within these arches, there is Mehrab in the western wall, entrance in the eastern, whereas the southern and northern side arch panel has an arch and panels.
