Mugli Site

The Muglia site lies about 30 km north of Shah Godero Shrine. It can be accessed from Fareedabad via Shah Godero Shrine and onwards via Jeep able track crossing Mehar Gas Field to Mangli village. Mugli site lies on the eastern edge of the Khirthar hills, it is divided into two parts (Mound I & Mound II) by a rivulet flowing through it, the cultural material is profusely scattered on both sides of the rivulet on the mounds. There is evidence of stone fortification wall on the site of Mugli along with stone structures in the shape of small chambers, corridor and rooms besides some recent graves of Chandia tribe. The cultural material comprises of stone blades and pottery of Kot Dijian, Amrian and Nal periods. The site lies chronologically between 4th and 3rd millennium B.C. and is of great significance having evidence of the early Indus tradition, the formative stages of the Mature Indus period of the Indus civilization.
