Shrine of Hazrat Shah Dana Shaheed

The tomb of Shah Dana Shaheed stands in the southeast quarter of old Multan, about 115 m northwest of the Delhi Gate. It honors Shaikh Sad al-Din alias Shah Dana Shaheed b. Nasir al-Din, a disciple and contemporary of the great Bahauddin Zakariya (1170-1262 CE).Unfortunately, very little of substance is known about Shah Dana Shaheeds life apart from the circumstances of his death in the mid-to-late 13th century, when he was killed during a Mongol attack. As is common with Suhrawardiyya tombs, the main entrance of this tomb also faces south instead of east the usual direction for Islamic tombs in south Asia. Shaheeds tomb is in good structural condition but fine surface detail if it ever existed lies beneath layers of plaster applied in the 1980s.
