Mausoleum of Hazrat Ala-ud-Din Mauj Darya

Hazrat Mauj Darya Bukhari (RA) was born in Ucch Sharif India during the early Mughal period. He migrated to Lahore and Mughal emperor Akbar gave him thousands of acres of land as Nazrana (Gifts presented out of respect and reverence for the purposes of charity). Hazrat Mauj Darya Bukhari (RA) built his Khanqah (spiritual centre) and langar (free food). He was married first to a Bibi Kalan from whom he had two sons and his second marriage was to the daughter of a well-known landlord Naurang. From his second wife, he had a son named Shahabuddin Suharwardi. In the 54 years long period of Alauddin Mauj Daryas successor ship, the convent of Baba Farid had become so influential that governors and even the King could not intervene in its matters (Nizami, 1990). But, after Alauddin Mauj Darya (d. 1334), his descendants accepted political portfolios and court patronage for the shrine.
