Sir Robert Sandeman`s Tomb

The tomb is lying in a garden in Lasbela Town of Baluchistan and about 200 km north of Karachi. The grave is built in shape beige color marble stone. Sir Robert Sandeman was the agent of Governor General of India from Baluchistan from 1876 to 1892. He was one of the biggest diplomats of his time. He conquered the whole region of Baluchistan without shedding a drop of blood of his troops. He was born on 25 Feb 1835 in Perth, Scotland. After his simpleton of his education he joined the British Army and participated in the battle of Burma. He was injured two times in these battles, then left the military and join civilian department and appointed as Deputy Commissioner of Eastern Baluchistan (Dera Ghazi Khan and Sulemanian Mountains). He detained the Mastung Darbar and signed the Treaty of Mastung 1876 in which he khan of Kalat Meer Khudaidad Khan and his anti-tribal chiefs participated and Robert Sandeman was the judge. After this treaty British authorities conquered Baluchistan and Robert Sandeman was appointed as agent to Governor General of Baluchistan by the British Government of India. He died on 29th Jan, 1982 during an official tour of Lasbela and was entombed there. Two marble fixed in his tomb depicting his life carrier in Baluchistan and date of birth and died. He is buried in the Sandman Park located in Bela.
