Inderkot Mosque

PunjabMosqueProtected
The mosque situated in the east of Mohallah Inder Kot at Fateh Jang, District Attock is built on a raised platform. Built in stone it comprises a Prayer Chamber, courtyard and a long room on north added later on. Though a small stair-case evading to courtyard has recently been provided from the south-east corner, the original entrance lies in the north. The mosque, built on a raised platform, comprised of a prayer chamber, courtyard and a long room on north added later on. The courtyard, measuring 9.9x 7.6 m is paved with cement concert slabs and is enclosed with a low wall. The prayer chamber 4x 8.1 m with three openings on eastern side is a rectangular hall covered by a dome flanked with two vaults. The alcove of mihrab and squinches of the dome have been decorated with Ghalib Kari work. The frescos executed in vivid colours in late Mughal style portray beautiful floral patterns. Geometrical designs have also been used but a little sparsely. An other interesting feature of the mosque is the numerous inscriptions in Persian and Arabic. The Kalima and two Ruhais on the top of Mihrab, though renewed recently, it seems were originally there while others were inscribed by the visitors coming from time to time.
