Khel Patt Tehjian

This site is located 30 km west of Tehsil Sharda and 20 km south west of Athmaqam, the District head quarter of Neelum valley on the left bank of Neelum River. The rock is 1m high and 12m wide. One of the caves is 2m high and 2.1m wide. Another small cave is 1.9m high and 1m wide. The Khel Patt site is commonly known as Shish Pheri, which is an asymmetrical rock having natural caves, with engraved symbols. Shish pheri is a Kashmiri word which means flowing water. The place takes the name from the continuous flow of water in all the seasons with the same intensity and intervals. Minor portion of the rock is slightly treated by the human. There is a cave in the center of the Shish pheri at a height of 3m from the ground level. The size of this cave is approximately 4 x 5 m, where a human being of average size can easily stand. The upper portion of the rock is covered by the trees of deodar and wild herbs of different types. These herbs are said to be remedies of skin diseases. All the area in the front of the rock is covered by the wild plants and white lotus flowers are distributed due to climatic conditions. This is a religious site, associated to Jain religion.
