Bhrund Temple (Kalhore Rajgan Temple Complex) No. 1

Azad Jammu and KashmirTempleProtected
The site is located near the Bharang Bata Bazar, south-west of Bhrund village, on the left side of the Bhrund road leading to Sehnsa, Kotli at a distance of 2 km and approached by Holard Bridge. The temple is located on the raised ground, at height of 2-3 m from the surrounding ground level obviously built on a raised and projected platform. The temple is facing towards the west and built up with large stone slabs properly dressed in various sizes. Traces of plaster, on both exterior and interior, strongly suggest that it was properly plastered to give it suitable finishing. The temple is square in plan with a pit in the centre of the main temple, suggesting digging by the illegal diggers on the site in search of artifacts or hidden treasure. One of the large stone slabs has a carved flower with multiple petals. The stairs on the west leads to main sanctum. Important measurements include platform, north-south: 6m; east-west: 9m; main temple, north-south: 4.5m; north-south: 4.80 m, preserved height: 4.5 m, width of entrance: 1m; interior plan: 3x3 m, width of structure wall: 0.35m. The site is tentatively assigned to the 7th - 8th century CE.
