Sirahsila Fort

The fort is located about 3 km north east of Sharda temple in tehsil Sharda, District Neelum. The village of Khawaja Seri is 3 km towards south-east of Sirahsila fort, while the small village Kishen Ghati is situated towards its north-east. The fort is rectangular in plan that was built in schist stone masonry and river pebbles. Both type of the material is available in the surrounding areas in the rivers and hills. The structure stones of the fort are scattered on the site. The area of the fort is surrounded by mountains and approached by a series of steps from the river Neelum. These stairs of which are leading down to the river bank are built by stone slabs. The site is surrounded by thick forest of deodar and cedar wood. Trees and other wild herbs have grown on the top of the fort debris. This fort is tentatively belongs to the 8th - 10th century CE.
