Bhrund Fort

The fort is located near the Bharang Bata Bazar, south-west of Bhrund village, on the left side of the Bhrund road leading to Sehnsa, Kotli, at a distance of 3 km and approached by Hotart Bridge. This fort is situated on the pointed cliff or bed rock at a height 15 to 20 m and surrounded by lush green valley with medieval period Hindu temples and modern settlements. The plan is irregular and multi-faceted. It is unique in its erection, architecture, and appearance from all other contemporary forts. In fact, it is a small watch tower like fort and its strategic location is of great interest. It is built up with limestone, bricks, river rolled pebbles, and lime plastered on both inner side and outer side. The fort has multiple stories and a secret exit. It has the remains of a well in the center and cells along the fortified wall with several niches and arches in row. There are slits provided in the parapets of fortification for defense. There is a staircase leading to the fort. Some fresh cracks have been developed in the side wall, probably due to recent tectonic movements in the area. The fort is abandoned, but in good state of preservation.
