Hari Mandir at Hazro

Hazro is a home to many temples, Gurdwara and havelis, believed to have been built during the Sikh and British eras. This Hindu temple is located in Hari Mohallah (now renamed as Mohallah Jamie Masjid) in the heart of Hazro town, surmounted by Shikara (a tower-like superstructure). The temple is constructed for Hindu deity Vishnu. The complex is occupied by families who do not allow visitors inside. According to an inscription on the temple, it was built in memory of Bhagat Bishandas Vekanth by Swami Diyanand of the Sarswati Sabhapati Harri Mandir committee of Hazro in vikram sambat (Indian calendar) 1989 that is, circa 1928 CE. The Sikhara is adorned with chevron lines symbolizing Life . The Mandir is very large and spacious and its facade is decorated with wooden jharokha and balconies. The main entrance gate is embellished with floral designs while the interior of the temple is adorned with paintings. The Mandir is connected to the haveli via a bridge from its eastern side. According to the locals, every room of the Harri Temple was bedecked with paintings which were later white washed by its occupants.
