Hindu Temple-I (East of Indus View Hotel)

PunjabTempleProtected
This Hindu temple is almost true copy of a similar temple inside Kashmir Khan House on the south across the road. It is completely surrounded by thorny bushes. It is surmounted by a Shikara-type roof, with merlons below the roof. There are vestiges of animals on four corners on topmost probably lions, which cannot be exactly recognized due to very bad state of preservation. The ceiling is decorated with floral designs in stucco. The entrance is in the northern wall. It is octagonal in shape from inside. It has blank arches in rectangles in three walls i.e. east, west and south, with small pilasters. The building is divided into two portions, the lower and the upper. The upper portion is further divided into three parts by means of high pilasters, the central, a rectangle containing a blank niche with pilasters, exactly like those in the lower part but comparatively higher and narrow. The side portions are also rectangular with a square on top on each side. The corners both in the lower and upper part contain pilasters. The northern wall above the entrance still retains beautiful painting including floral designs, red grapes and green leaves with a line of yellow/golden color. Below the line are also floral/fruit designs in very bad state of preservation.
