Sacred Rock of Hunza

The sacred rock of Hunza is located along the Karakoram Highway on the left bank of the Hunza River and just after the bridge over the river, almost 1.5 km away from Karimabad. Besides, animal figures, stupa carvings, human figures inscriptions in Chinese, Brahmi, Kharoshti etc. which attested a meeting place for traders, pilgrims, conquerors and kings from Central Asia and Persia. Between Gandhara, Kashmir and Central Asia, merchants and monks traveled via the silk route and through the mountain range. It is called the Guest Book of the Silk Route. The inscriptions and petroglyphs record 2000 years of travels along the network of capillary routes through the Karakoram Mountains. The site is mainly belongs to historic period (Ist-10th Century CE).
