Khamchu Rock Art Site

The site is situated on the left bank of Saltoro River. From Domsum on southern side a wooden foot bridge is constructed on river Saltoro. From here, an old route leads to Gulshan-i-Kabir (Farowa) village. Along this old path 18 stones with 208 carvings are found. Among the carvings ibexes, human figures, stupas, symbols, riders, circles, horse and Brahmi inscriptions were recorded. The elevation is 2620 m. Domsum village is a gate way to Saltoro valley. Before construction of the suspension bridge on Kondus River it was very safe place for security point of view. There was only a foot bridge on Saltoro River and old path was used through Farwa (Gulshan-i-Kabir) from Ghorsey via Dende la (pass).
