Gayal Mosque

The mosque is located in Gayal Valley, about 10 km from the Shatial Bridge in Darel. Parts of an earlier, now-extinct mosque (a few wooden pillars) in Lolo Kot, have been reused in constructing the Gayal mosque. Gayal Mosque has a rectangular prayer chamber, and its western wall has a semi-circular mihrab (niche), built into it and placed slightly to the north. To the east of the prayer chamber there lies a Hujra (guest room), which has a flat roof supported by four square-shaped wooden pillars. The verandah, supported by a line of wooden pillars, is located to the south of the Hujra and the prayer chamber. It is covered with wooden planks and lined with arched windows. A covered gallery lies to the east of the Hujra and the verandah, with a running water channel for ablutions and a toilet. This mosque was renovated in 1997.
