Thole Mosque

The Thole Mosque and the adjacent biak (space for communal gathering) are the only surviving historically-significant places within the village of Thole, Nager. The small, square- shaped Thole Mosque has a verandah on two of its sides, facing the east and the north. This richly -embellished verandah opens into the neighbouring biak, extending the latter`s open space visually and functionally. The mosque was built using a cribbage and cator structure. The details of its construction reveal that the building was likely renovated 100-150 years ago. Underneath the mosque is a traditional drinking water reservoir, the water from which flows through an outlet, and trickles through the middle of the biak as a narrow stream.
