Goma Mosque

This mosque is situated in a small village called Goma in the Thely valley. The mosque has three floors, including a basement level that was damaged by a severe flood, and is therefore no longer in use. This building is built with a traditional cribbage - and- cator technique, using timber, stone and adobe. The ground floor functions as a winter mosque, while the top floor is used for prayers during the summers. The spatial arrangement of the building is very pragmatic. Access to the top floor is provided from the verandah at the ground floor through a staircase. The winter mosque has a verandah on its eastern side, while the summer mosque has a double-sided verandah on its eastern and southern sides.
