Ali Masjid Gonepa

Gilgit-BaltistanMosqueProtected
Gonepa is a small settlement in the Wazirpur village of Shigar, on the right bank of the Shigar River. A small passage from the settlement leads to this mosque, where a wooden ladder provides access to its main verandah. The building sits on a stone platform and was constructed using timber, mud and stone, and the main column of the mosque is original to the building. It had to be amended, however, when the height of the structure was raised during a renovation intervention. The mosque also bears small windows and niches.
