Helor Das

It is situated opposite Oshibat site on the right bank of the Indus about 8 km east of Thor North (Khalat ka Das) after tsotsol. This site is well known for their Brahmi inscriptions, first reported by Dr. Nasim during 1992-1993. It has two parts, Helor Das West that berders to the west to Kalat Doduk BO and to the east to the Helor Gah dry nala. The cluster of petroglyphs are scattered along the old path at a length of about 700 m below the slopes of the tsotsol ridge. Helor Das east (Hukar Das) is divided in two sections to both sides of the mouth of the Hukar Nala. 75 carvings on 22 stones were recorded among them 32 inscriptions in Brahmi and one in Sogdian. A total of 540 carvings and inscriptions on 158 stones are so far recorded in the whole Helor Das. Dr. Nasim mentioned that at the site of Helor Das name of town in its different forms is several times found in Brahmi inscription. The name occurs in Horamusa form (Nasim Khan 1994:202), while in Shatial it is written Hora(mu) (Fussman/Konig 1997:31).
