Anjira

The mound of Anjira is situated between the two arms of Anjira river in the Surab valley at a distance of 45 km towards south of Suhrab town at the bank of Suhrab-Khuzdar National Highway with five periods of occupation. It measures 228 x 107 m with a height of 2.4 m from the surrounding ground. It was excavated in 1957 by Beatrice de Cardi. She had discovered this site along with Togau in her 1947 survey. The site is low and inconspicuous, lying on the eastern bank of the Anjira River, a tributary to the Mula River, which is a route onto the western Kachi lane and the Mehrgarh area. The cultural sequence at Anjira involved three principal Periods of occupation i.e. (i) Burj Basket-marked phase, (ii) Togau Phase, and (iii) Kechi Beg Phase.
